Definitions of Intention

Before you begin to speak, give a speech, respond to your boss, partner or a stranger set a conscious Intention. Unless you set a conscious intention, the message behind your communication will carry less impact and less clear meaning.

  • The meaning that is imparted in the whole or in any particular part of the communication.

  • Intent more strongly implies deliberateness.
  • Purpose strengthens the idea of resolution or determination. Goal may suggest an idealistic or long-term purpose. Aim stresses the direction one's efforts take in pursuit of an end.

  • Objective often implies that the end or goal can be reached.
